Pedro’s review published on Letterboxd:
I am not going to lie to you, I have never watched a movie in the Harry Potter franchise. I had several opportunities to watch, but I never felt like or interesting to see it. Strangely, since a few weeks ago my desire to watch has grown, I don't know how to explain why, but I think it was curiosity that made me start watching. The question I always asked was: why do people like this franchise so much? Am I the only one in this universe who has no interest in watching?
I never got anywhere near the books, I know that many people love books and say they are very good. I'm just going to watch the movies, I'm not interested in reading the books, for now.
Every famous book adaptation needs a good start in cinema. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a very good start, presents the characters and the universe well and leaves good hooks for the next films. The pace of the film is not very slow, I understand the reason for this, it is the first film and the director and writers need to present the universe and the characters well. As I said above, this film does both of these things very well. Now, I can understand why people are so passionate about this franchise. I'm not "in love" yet, but I hope that will happen in the next films.
