The characters, particularly Russell Tovey's Jason, are massively annoying and unlikable. There's no subtlety to the performances but I think this is more an issue with the terrible script than the actors themselves. Conversations are unrealistic between all characters, there's no natural flow to them and they reveal their feelings and secrets way too freely in situations where they'd naturally be more guarded. I didn't know what to expect from tonight's Odeon Screen Unseen. The consensus seemed to point towards Jackie so I was quite shocked, and pleasantly surprised, when the BBFC certificate revealed that it was Hidden Figures.
