A Most Wanted Man

A Most Wanted Man ★★★½

Patient pacing tests my attention at times, but the story is solid and performances all superlative enough to build a steady steam of suspense. And even for someone who doesn't feel emotionally attached to Philip Seymour Hoffman (his body of works is great, but I have my intense actor love for a few other performers), I can't help but be completely devastated by the last couple of scenes in the film. It's already a powerful ending, but knowing about the actor who plays this out makes the melancholy almost too overwhelming. What an eerie synch of themes both insides and outsides the film, where the tremendous work by this great man will always go underappreciated than what he really deserved. What an actor, and what a final performance.
