What a smug lil' dud of a movie this is! And why even make it in the first place?! Rich Boy Film Director (and personal enemy) Paul Mazursky has absolutely nothing to say about sexual politics and/or liberation movements. (How could he...?) Worse, he is not even curious about them. Nor are his characters, it seems, as there is no soul-searching, no challenges, nor transformations for Jill Clayburgh's Erica – or any of her upper-class friends, for that matter. Even…

no one is more upset than I am to agree with Vinceny Canby on this one. Way, waaaay too 'dinner party'. Not even Wood's performance can distract me from how empty-headed this thing is. I can hear Ira Glass' on-air review: "I was surprised to see myself in these spirited, young swingers, who -- as it turns out -- have some very 'American' values. Stay with us!!!" Makes me wanna puke.

The Batman 2022
Centrist propaganda -- I bet Steven "the 80s weren't political" Spielberg l-o-v-e-d it. Really can't believe just how clunky the script is, while not saying anything at all. And, dang, you can tell Reeves has been making movies with CG apes for the last 7 or so years; nobody was directing Kravitz, or so it felt, but she also has nothing to work with. How do you fuck up Long Halloween's Catwoman? She's giving off Twin Peak's James in this -- how?? Fucking how?
The most dangerously stupid movie of 2022. Someone buy Reeves a newspaper subscription. He needs help.

We're All Going to the World's Fair 2021
Jane Schoenbrun’s debut feels like a spiritual sibling to the films of Lukas Moodysson and, surprisingly, Tsai Ming-liang’s Rebels of the Neon God. And wow, Anna Cobb...a tremendous performance, the film rests on the power of her face. One of the most sensitive portraits of life online. And, without a doubt, one of the most impressive works you’ll see this year. Really something special.
