Per Enström’s review published on Letterboxd:
Love and Monsters is a sci-fi/adventure/coming of age story about a young man (Dylan O'Brien) after the apocalypse, leaving his safe bunker to go on a perilous journey to reunite with his love from the days gone (Jessica Henwick). But during the way he finds himself and his courage instead. It's a classic story, but it feels stale and done to death. It has some great special effects, and O'Brien does a great job in bringing the awkward Joel to life. And even though our male main character is getting his driving force from looking for a woman, Henwick's Aimee is strong and with motivations of her own. It feels like it wants to make fun of the genre, but forgets it at times to go all serious business.
