What a beautiful film. The underlying compassion and empathy this movie immediately points to sets the tone for the rest of the film. Gorgeous detail in the animation. This is Ton Hanks’ best vocal performance since the first film (or more consistent with the first film). Legitimately funny moments come in spurts, particularly from the performances of Keagan Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Keanu Reeves. Best performance goes to Annie Potts, who plays Bo just as one would remember her, only with a little Indiana Jones mixed in. This is a wonderful addition to the franchise (and a nice place to stop).
Heart wrenching yet cunning character study. Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson are ice cold in the best way, and James Ivory knows how to work that angle with them. Christopher Reeve gives possibly his best performance that is quiet yet commanding. This is absolutely Ivory/Merchant at their best.
