Mike Aparicio’s review published on Letterboxd:
45 minutes into Honey Boy, my wife turns to me and asks, "wait, is that Shia LaBeouf?" When I told her that not only was it him, but he also wrote the film, loosely based on his actual childhood, she was blown away. Shia is electric, excorcising his demons by playing his own father. Noah Jupe and Lucas Hedges are also great as Otis, Shia's surrogate, at different stages of his life. I'm honestly shocked this didn't get more awards buzz.
