Utter delirium. So happy that it's actually as good as its reputation. Storaro's photography alone is a perfect work of art.

I had the bluray sitting on my pile of shame for like two years before finally watching it tonight and it‘s actually kind of great? Love the creeping, drawn-out zooms (that feel even more ominous on digital for some reason), love the fragmenting of memories, love Olsen‘s performance. Also a wonderful illustration of how people can become complicit in their own abuse if there is a strong enough system in place to justify/perpetuate that abuse.

Millennial and generational anxieties expressed through one big, messy family - that is, every family. The mundane, the everyday is contrasted with a deep sense of confusion and emptiness, something hollow at the core, a central beacon gone missing.
