my life is nothing I thought and everything I worried it would become because for 50 seconds I thought there was monsters on the world.

    - knew there was gonna be trouble when the paramount logo didn’t transition into the opening shot…just got worse from there.

    - Ford looked trash in the opening flashback. Immediately a massive turn off. If the future of movies is an upscale video game cut scene, then I don’t want it! It also doesn’t help that “young” Indy sounds like a grumpy old man. Everything looked fake and bad. No weight, no substance. Remember the train sequence in Last Crusade?…

Steven Spielberg’s run from 1998-2005 is probably the best he ever was, and most likely the best he ever will be. The Saving Private Ryan - Munich run is absolutely ironclad and Minority Report miiight be the best of the bunch.

Llewyn has to step aside for Dylan to become a star. The world wasn’t ready for two such soulful artists. One of em had to go. I like to think Llewyn played a small part in history but he’d never know it.

Beautiful film. “Llewyn is the cat.”

idk I guess I’m a bit underwhelmed. Like I watch movies to escape ya know? So when a film like this so perfectly captures my day-to-day life on screen I am kinda left feeling a bit “been-there-done-that” tbh.

(odd that Brandon is basically a copy n paste of his dad but just slightly worse. Be a filmmaker for sure but maybe make romcoms and dramas a.ka. The Sofia Coppola/Nick Cassavetes route.)

the blood in this looks like Giallo blood. Love it.
And that Saul Bass title sequence sure is a sight to behold.

every man’s face in this resembles a cracked, leather beanbag. It is perfect. A bunch of beanbags doing crimes.

Just an absolutely colossal masterpiece. Mann’s the man.
