    Early Man

Early Man is as safe as you can get, it's Space Jam meets Chicken Run - and I hate the lazy marketing of strategy of 'X meets X' - but it really is. That's not to say it's not good. The stellar performances, class animation and unique visual gags really make it a memorable watch. Parents and kids left the cinema happy, and that's an achievement I will always admire.

  • Aliens

Going into several scenes, on this being my third watch, I thought to myself, 'now this is the best scene.' And each of them, in their own way, were. Aliens weaves multiple webs, corporate negligence and greed, motherhood and family, and the fear of the unknown. Fear of aliens, fear of synthetics and fear of each other. It's a complex film, and it does this and the original injustice to compare them; they're both equal in their own genres. Different, equal, and excellent.

No regrets watching this a third time, a fourth, fifth or sixth would likely not dissuade me from this opinion.

The simple reason I think this is a cult movie is because it is a character movie. A lot of…

  • Moon

Wow. I went into this film blind, all I knew about it was that it was about Sam Rockwell alone on the moon, which I sort of ascertained from looking at the poster. I wasn't really that hyped about this, I kind of just stuck it on because I felt like watching a film. I'm so glad I did.

Sam Rockwell plays a guy called Sam Bell who is working alone on the far side of the moon with only…
