    The Last Supper


    I was worried coming back into this film that it hadn’t aged well. To me, thankfully, the satire holds up. It’s a fun indie that’s staged like a play with a handful of over-acted performances trotting around thought experiments that ends in murder and tomato sauce apparently made without any mess AT ALL. That last part is my biggest dig on the movie, which otherwise manages to make me laugh, cringe, and sigh in all the right places.

    This movie hasn’t lost any of it’s lustre for me. Somehow, Heckerling manages to make the ultra-rich sympathetic, funny, and charming, in an era when this sort of affluence is increasingly toxic in film. Silverstone is wonderful, Dash is unencumbered by “what she will become,” and Paul Rudd is precisely Paul Rudd. A fun, candy-cane walk down memory lane and a bunch of good laughs.
