Daniel PG Simpson’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Blue Gardenia is a film noir from Fritz Lang about a woman who cannot remember if she murdered a man or not. For most of the runtime, The Blue Gardenia is a pretty standard if unexceptional noir. Anne Baxter gives a good performance, but Lang brings no visual flourishes to the proceeding at all. Apparently he had less than a month to shoot this and it shows. Where the film really goes wrong though is its ending. After teasing a genuinely surprising and dark end, the film goes on to provide a bullshit solution to the mystery which doesn't hold up to scrutiny or the film's tone.
