FWWM continues to chill to the bone like very few films before and since. Viewers expecting this to be at times quirky, light and humerous like the original series are missing the point. This is an exercise in pure dread. The final days of a troubled woman. Twisted.
The Coen bros first flick is a tight tale with great performances, camera work, score and a final act that’s legendary. Their success in the realm of low-budget suspense-thriller has clearly inspired some of today’s best young talent.
The Criterion blu is a visual feast. Frances McDormand is magnificent.
