  • The Standoff at Sparrow Creek

The Standoff at Sparrow Creek 2018

    ★★ Watched by Phil 25 Jun 2022

Brought to you by the right-leaning Dallas production company responsible for Dragged Across Concrete, Brawl in Cell Block 99 and Run Hide Fight. Unlike S. Craig Zahler Henry Dunham didn't provide a second layer of reflection but (more like Kyle Rankin) hit you with his republicanism right in the face. A good looking flick that feels very empty regardless of your political standpoint.

  • Flesh Eating Mothers

    Flesh Eating Mothers 1988

What a lovely little sleazeball. 80's low budget horror done right. And yup, that's one fitting title.

  • Visitor Q

    Visitor Q 2001

„How do we judge this wonderful bullying?“

  • 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days

    4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days 2007

    ★★★★½ Watched by Phil 24 Jun 2022

What a sad day in the history of human rights to watch this (again and still) relevant picture. Fuck you, Neil Gorsuch! Fuck you, Brett Kavanaugh! Fuck you, Amy Coney Barrett! Fuck you, Clarence Thomas! Fuck you, Samuel Alito and fuck you, Donald Trump!

  • My Neighbors the Yamadas

    My Neighbors the Yamadas 1999

    ★★★½ Watched by Phil 24 Jun 2022

I've learned from my past mistakes and prepared a variety of snacks to not ever watch a Studio Ghibli film when hungry again.

  • Scream Queens: Horror Heroines Exposed

„I consider myself more of a Screen Queen.“ – Sybil Danning

  • Yellow Fever: The Rise and Fall of the Giallo

Yellow Fever: The Rise and Fall of the Giallo 2016

Watched by Phil 24 Jun 2022

    Giallo vive!

I like the smirking Argento at the end of the doc when asked what's next for him and responding that he might be back with a new giallo of course thinking of the much loved (at least by me) Dark Glasses.

  • Psycho III

    Psycho III 1986

    ★★★★ Watched by Phil 23 Jun 2022

    „Watch the guitar.“

  • Fascism on a Thread: The Strange Story of Nazisploitation Cinema

Fascism on a Thread: The Strange Story of Nazisploitation Cinema 2019

Watched by Phil 23 Jun 2022

Interesting insight on one of the many subgenres of the exploitation film, inspired by the pornographic novels of Stalag fiction as well as acclaimed films like Rossellini's Rome, Open City or Käutner's The Devil’s General. Unfortunately the doc ends in the mid 80s with Jess Franco's Angel of Death even though the genre survived in slightly adapted form 'till today.
