Tense and twisting thriller with an impressive claustrophobic atmosphere (no pun intended of course).  It may suffer from being a little too happened by its premise at times but for the most part it works well enough.

    Nightmare Alley

    ★★½

I realise that I’m going to be an outsider here but Guillermo del Toro‘s Nightmare Alley was a let down. Overlong and overindulgent, the film left be a bit bored as it meandered to its pretty predictable ending.

I get why people love Del Toto as a director but I’ve always struggled to love his films (yes I even think Pan's Labyrinth is a bit over rated)  and this so yet another disappointment for me.

Whilst it may be a bit long and probably doesn’t have an original bone in its body, Kate is a fun, crazy and enjoyable revenge action flick that delivers strong action and just about believable characters. Well worth a watch.

Smart, biting and as well crafted a satire as you’d hope from film of this pedigree - Don’t Look Up is a superb (and scary) pitch black comedy that works on so many levels. Sadly many of them feeling far too close to the world we live in…

    Brilliant.
