The Sorcerer's Apprentice ★★½

Nicolas Cage and director Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) team up for another Disney family adventure, this time about a young sorcerer (Baruchel) who is the chosen one with the power to defeat Morgana and her evil sorcerer (Molina). The first half is light and fun, with plenty of action to keep one amused, but the story never really develops and the second half becomes a little tiresome. Molina is good value though, underplaying the villainous role, with decent support from Toby Kebbel as his assistant, but Cage never quite embraces the material with the gusto it needs.
