Bon Cop Bad Cop 2 looks like an actual film. Eleven years later, and they finally introduced some colour. The case they are working is more interesting, the stakes are higher, and as a film, this sequel in general is a lot more ambitious. There is more depth to the characters too, they come aross as real people, and somewhat likable too.
Bon Cop Bad Cop tried to portray the absurdity of two languages, and by extension two cultures clashing wih one another, and while that didn't particularly work out, the idea was interesting at the very least. And this is the one thing that the sequel does worse. Dealing with a larger crime, by necessity, they have to eventually venture south into the US. And the obvious joke here is all Americans are idiots, they don't know what Canada is, or what French is, or how to do anything, really. And Bon Cop Bad Cop 2 goes all in on this bit that would have been embarrasing in the 1980s.
