Sublime and peaceful. Drifting in and out of dreams.
I had just finished watching the studio approved cut of the film a few hours before this one so it was still fresh in my mind. The two couldn't be more different. Schrader completely changed the context of some scenes, made it far more wild and experimental. And the climax of the film is indeed one of the craziest things I've ever seen in the context of a conventional narrative. It is a far better film than what the studio released. Cage's performance is rescued.
