Wings of Desire

Wings of Desire ★★★★★

This first hour and a half are about as avant-garde as narrative films get. The angels wander from person to person observing the lives and thoughts of Berlin, creating a city symphony of emotions.

Interesting that the angels never acknowledge the existence of an afterlife (Damiel even responds to a thought about heaven with a derisive smirk), and don't even seem to know if there's any sort of higher power. Death is still death, and angels can't provide any sort of comfort in the most dire of circumstances.
