    The BFG

    That this film is a box office flop is a disgrace. Spielberg has crafted yet another wonderful film for the family from a screenplay from E.T. scribe Melissa Mathison (based on the famous Roald Dahl tale). All of his decades long, fine-tuned filmmaking skills are on display but truly it is Mark Rylance's performance of the BFG that makes this film such a pleasure to watch.

    While adding absolutely nothing new to the zombie film genre, Korean cinema's first foray into an apocalyptic outbreak is an intense fun time! The stereotypical heavy handed Korean melodrama is present here but the fantastically and imaginative tight action sequences of attacking zombie hordes (at times besting Hollywood efforts) easily balance out the proceedings.

    Incoming pun in 3,2,1... Get 'on board' this film!!!

    Taika Waititi's 4th film further cements that this filmmaker is in a class of his own. Hunt for the Wilderpeople is an all engrossing film that just pulls you in with its funny and truly heartwarming story, about acceptance and finding your place in the world. Sam Neill and Julian Dennison are a delight to watch while Taika Waititi's minister cameo is a direct bullseye highlight!

    Ghostbusters

    This is the best way to enjoy Ghostbusters in 2016:

    * Watch the 1984 version
    * Watch the 1989 sequel
    * Play the 2009 videogame
    * Read the 2011 ongoing monthly IDW comic book series by Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening

    The comic book series successfully captures the heart and soul of Ghostbusters and many of its new cinematic storylines featuring actual new characters easily outmatch the clueless take that Paul Feig and Amy Pascal unleashed upon the world.
