This will go down as the most relevant and very much important piece of filmmaking of the year. It’s the kind of movie that you already know where it is going to lead you, but the build up towards it was hauntingly heart wrenching that it makes you feel every bit of sympathy towards the protagonist and every ounce of anger and frustration towards his accusers. I really wanted to like this, it’s different and ambitious with its lore and world building and being a very Chloé Zhao movie despite already part of the biggest movie franchise, but it’s soooo boring and lifeless. For such an expensive cast not a single one of them looked like they wanted to be there, which blows because the whole movie’s backbone was the characters. Not a single drop of chemistry from the cast, it’s like watching robots pretend to be humans for almost 3 hours. Oh shit, wait.

Also, Willem Dafoe.

Another day, another great directorial debut.

If this timeline's film community had a perfect and unbiased state of mind, Jim Cumming's Thunder Road would be at the frontline of the awards season. Cummings' performance is by far my favorite from this year. How he seamlessly blend some of the funniest lines I've ever heard while at the same time giving a hardcore tearjerky moment of drama is a delight to watch. The direction is equally as great as his performance…
