    Aftersun

Gorgeously photographed, reflection of a movie. Hits hard and feel extremely close to home stylistically.

The Wind That Shakes the Barley

Extremely disheartening and tragic examination of when a movement with so much power against an oppressor splits because one side is examining things at the class level and the other isn’t.

Loach frames war casualties in a very harrowing way where every death is felt.

    The Making of 'Autumn Sonata'

Finally finished this behemoth of a “making of” documentary and it’s pretty amazing. No fluff, just footage of the entire production process. The highs and lows. Love seeing Sven light a seen and all of the dynamics on set, it’s clear these people love making movies together and honestly feels like any set I’ve been on just scaled up. Essential viewing

Light fixtures, vents, baseboard, sockets, legos, television sets, this are the objects used to induce fear. A film layered with noise, dirt, grain and crackle that only gets louder and more layered as the film goes on. There is such a layer of noise on this film that you can admire that noise itself and completely abstract it from an already abstracted image.

There is a paralyzing sort of fear where you are more afraid of what you could see…
