Pieces of a Woman ★★★½

It's bookended by two brilliant sequences (though it should have stopped after the she released the ashes - that was such a great parting shot) and both Vanessa Kirby and Ellen Burstyn are very very good, but the middle is only okay - kinda slow going and not as intriguing or as emotional as it could have been, though the film does have something worthwhile to say about the (ripple) effect that such a tragedy can have on a family and perhaps even the wider community.
