  Sebastian Silva is one of the most under appreciated directors. But I get it. His films are rough around the edges but not necessarily for budgetary reasons. Michael Cera was supposed to star in this but he turned it down because Silva NEEDED the dick shots. And Cera always makes a film better. That’s dedication to dicks. The film started off like an ambitious self-congratulatory autofiction but it became so much more. It genuinely reached brilliance but you really have to tussle through the dumb shit that’s sprinkled throughout.

  Maybe deeply personal films could only connect with people with similar life experiences. I’m glad small films like this get the high praises and all, but this was an absolutely dreadful watch.
