Pretty dull late 70s Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica knockoff but I suppose I've seen worse. And hey, it's got Jack Palance in a cape.

A long-awaited rewatch of a film I saw too young to fully appreciate. 50% dreamy art film/50% horror schlock. Odd in my favorite ways. A zombie film that makes you forget it's a zombie film. The kind of movie you saw at 3 AM and were convinced for years was something you dreamt rather than saw.
Check it out and try not to overthink it.
This is a five-star rating given on faith. Faith that there will be a second part and faith that it will deliver on the promise of the first film.
That being said, taking this single film as it is, I freaking loved it. I felt more like I was watching Dune than either prior adaptation. And it was thankfully weirder than the trailers let on. God, I don't know if general audiences will love this. I hope that they do.…
There's a lot about this movie worth gushing about but let's be upfront about this: my God is Mia Goth amazing in this movie. Just an absolute bonkers performance that gives Pearl layers, allowing you to be simultaneously amused by her, saddened by her, and terrified by her.
Beyond that this is a movie tailor made for me. Don't really go in expecting anything like X. This is a tribute to old Hollywood as much as it is a horror…
