Rocketman isn't the kind of film that allows you to kick back and enjoy your viewing experience in the classic sense; it forces you to suffer alongside its protagonist. And that's what makes it so great. It doesn't play it safe and present you with another cheerfully nostalgic biopic. It almost incites guilt within the viewer for ever revelling in the music and fame that cause the singer such pain. A risk that definitely paid off.
