Surprisingly solid Planet of the Apes movie in a summer blockbuster format. The apes are great and there’s a badass gorilla. It’s got Lithgow and some psycho Brian Cox. James Franco even manages to be somewhat convincing. Not as a geneticist on the verge of curing Alzheimer’s, obviously. But as a dude who loves an ape, sure.

This movie is like Ready Player One for someone who just finished Intro to Film
Everyone is good in it. Kingsley is great. As far as tributes to early film are concerned, it would be difficult to do better than this. Scorsese conveys the sense of wonder and possibility contained in the Méliès films in a manner that suggests the feeling has never left him.

The Assistant 2019
This movie was boring as hell. But Julia Garner is very good and it was ultimately effective at making me feel as bad as it intended to. So good job I guess.
