FUUUUCCCCKKK.. the last 20 minutes of this are completely shocking. Right up there with The Shining. Initially, it is hard to determine the motivations behind the bitter custody battle at the centre of this film. But as the focus becomes clearer, the suspense builds to unbearable levels. A brutal and bleak insight as to just how fucked up things can get when a relationship turns bad.
Trippy... haunting... and just a wee bit disturbing. I loved the themes running through the film. Im not really sure what happened in the last 30 mins but i was completely engrossed. A film that takes you to interesting places but doesnt give answers (in the best possible way). I think it will stick with me for a long time.
This timely mystery thriller centres around a desperate dad as he follows the digital crumbs left behind by his missing teenage daughter. There have been a number of recent movies with digital technology front and centre (like the awful ‘Unfriended’) but this is a cut above. This is largely due to well developed characters and a strong plot, all presented to the audience via images from laptops, smartphones and other devices. Original and enjoyable, the film also packs a surprising emotional punch.
