Watched this almost a month after its initial release and still missed the first showing we planned on seeing due to it being sold out and after seeing a later showing it's easy to see why! Unlike a lot of big blockbusters that don't really benefit from a theatrical viewing anymore just due to how poorly they're shot Tom Cruise continues to make films that are absolutely worth seeing in a theater. Everything here from the high-flying action to the stellar cast and unexpected emotional core are exceptionally done and Top Gun: Maverick is a massive win in the battle to save cinema.
This genuinely looks and feels like a fan film it's pretty embarrassing how amateurish the entire thing is considering the large budget it has. Also despite being only 6 episodes some episodes are straight up filler like the writers had no idea how to pace it so they stretched it out as much as they could. It's not all bad thanks to another great performance from Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and there are some good moments but overall this series…
