Sam Raimi is one of my favorite filmmakers so when the news came out that he was coming back to direct a sequel to Doctor Strange I was pretty excited although also worried that the conveyer belt MCU assembly line wouldn't let his style shine through. Luckily not long into this film those worries were quickly put to rest as this film instantly stood out among the numerous other MCU properties as one by an actual artist and not just some director for hire that films all the pre-viz stuff that Marvel already came up with. This is a huge step up from the first Doctor Strange which I found to be pretty forgettable other than some good visuals (which are even better here) and I really hope Raimi comes back around for a sequel as I will most certainly be looking forward to it!
