When I was watching the trailer for The Cursed it felt really ambiguous, a lowkey Victorian era horror by the looks of it. Then it came out and after seeing some people speaking about it and the poster art, I realized instead it was a werewolf curse movie. I'm not sure why this is the case, but all the classic monsters - your vampires, werewolves, mummies - they don't get a lot of good movies anymore.

    Thankfully, The Cursed is…

Hell yeah now we’re talking! This is right up there with the kind of fun I was hoping for with the series, murder, dark rituals, lots of Hammer Blood ™️ - divine. No real complaints here, a true to form vampire horror that pays equal attention to the fiends and the leads, which has been my biggest issue with the other sequels spending too much time with normal people that don’t talk about vampires or really do anything. This is definitely a great vampire movie and totally the best sequel so far.

I’m scared to keep going through the Hammer Dracula series. Lee slams it outta the park with the most iconic version of Drac in the OG of this series, he famously didn’t want to continue reprising his role, so the sequel was meandering. Here, it’s a good step up, yet there is again a serious lack of Lee. The man seems to have made his name with the first film and just subsisted off of quick roles where he barely…

I can’t believe this lived up to the hype. I’m seeing everyone from the cinephiles to the general audience absolutely loosing their shit over Everything Everywhere All At Once so I made my way to the theaters this morning to experience it myself.

Holy shit this movie is incredible.

I laughed, I cried for minutes on end, I was blown away by impressive camera work and beautifully worded dialogue. Encompassing all film in a way that is truly indescribable.

I can’t say anything about this film other than the one word that conveys everything about it:

    Beautiful.

    Phenomenal.

Capturing a feeling in a film is a goal most film makers set out to do. Anguish, drive, fear, disappointment - some how, Whiplash grabs hold of these emotions, and more, while effortlessly telling a dramatic story. Not a coming of age tale, not a rise to fame, a simple determination to take the first step towards an intangible thing.

Going into this, I knew Simmons would deliver. Christ almighty though, I was not ready for the stunning performance…
