Wow. This is probably my favorite MCU film out of the 20+ that have been released. Chloe Zhao used her humanistic storytelling elements and created a grandiose sci-fi epic filled with Marvel Comics lore.
The color-grading was well-done, but the VFX and cinematography were the highlights, along with that spectacular score from Ramin Djawadi. Those celestial scenes were terrifying and immersive asf. The trailers REALLY didn’t do this film justice at all.
This movie had style, lots of it. And it was long, dense, and plot-heavy, and while those may be negatives to some, Chloe did a fine job with it because it was interesting asf. Nothing felt slow because it felt like a big ass Marvel history lesson and I’m a nerd for that shit. Another thing I enjoyed was how serious it took itself, and I appreciate that. The best kind of comic-book movies are the ones that take themselves seriously. (Logan, Black Panther, Infinity War, Dark Knight). Such a refreshing take from the MCU. 5/5 ⭐️s.
