Everything manipulative and privileged about white Americans is personified by Julia Roberts. This movie is based on a real-life hero, but she somehow manages to make the character unappealing and selfish. (It’s great she’s not starring in any main roles anymore.)
The script is good, I dig 90s legal drama.

I can't believe how good this movie is. The script is great because of the characters and the humor. The story could've been more focused, but Mr. Arndt deserves all the praise: this is the peak 2000s script for me. Writing effective comedy is really hard but he knocks it out of the park, with also great pathos and heartfelt moments.

The metaphors in this film are endless. David Lynch is a gift to humanity.
