Pete Talbot’s review published on Letterboxd:
While there are things about this movie that don’t work especially well, I found this to be a really entertaining movie with some of the best cinematography of any Marvel movie. I don’t know if it was the movie or the theater I was in but the sound mix seemed off. The score and soundtrack seemed too low and not enough bass to come through. The start of the movie dealing heavily in an alien society seemed to rush through exposition. Once the movie lands on Earth, it really kicks in, montages and use of natural light are quite exceptional. Brie Larson is a master of facial expressions, her acting did a lot of the heavy lifting of the movie. This reminded me of the very first Thor movie, that I enjoyed the hell out of. There are MCU Easter eggs all over this thing, but there’s also a very slight Easter egg for the filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck where young Carol Danvers takes a knock back pitch as a kid playing baseball, I’m sure it’s a little nod to Sugar.
