Pete Talbot’s review published on Letterboxd:
While this has some pretty hideous blemishes (everyone is a douche, Leo is whiny, so much techno, the video game sequence) this is still a pretty compelling movie about escapism and a society's collapse. Even though this came out in 2000, this feels like a perfect encapsulation of the '90's and '90's film. I think if it came out five years earlier it wouldn't be considered as much of a misstep by Danny Boyle, it would be thought of as a good movie that people don't seem to watch any more.
Oh yeah, holy crap, the screenwriter Alex Garland also wrote 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dredd and he directed Ex Machina. Huh.
