    “You’re not gonna do the time that coach recommended?”

    This film FLOWS. Like water. Makes sense because it’s a film about rowing. I think this sport is badass. So cool. I wish I lived somewhere that rowing was available. Director Lauren Hadaway must have some actual experience with this sport, seeing as how she also directed a short film about the subject as well and The Novice just truly feels like it was crafted by someone who knows the sport…

    “I broke off a chunk of the gold.”

    That is exactly what I would’ve done. Broken off a chunk of that massive boulder, covered up the rest of it completely with sand and rocks and returned at a later time with enough supplies to excavate it. Nobody would ever have to know you found a massive boulder of gold. Nobody. Sometimes, often times you question the choices of a film’s main characters. I know I would’ve done it differently.

    “Fuck it. Lets do it.”
