Okay after this and Christ Stopped at Eboli, I need to go down the Rosi rabbit hole ASAP (and maybe rewatch Salvatore Guliano and Hands Over the City, last seen like 15 years ago and only remembering liking but not overly so). Feels just as damning in its Marxist critique as a more directly political film, but told in purely visual terms without ever feeling the need to put too fine a point on it. Stunning.

Long Day's Journey Into Night 2018
Not your typical 3 star review - I was completely baffled by the elliptical 1st half of this film - I just couldn’t find my bearings either narratively or thematically. But the 2nd half is so astounding and hypnotic that I would have gladly watched it again right after to better tease out the connections between the two halves. I guess what I am saying if I ever get a chance to see this again with 3D projection (which might be unlikely), I reserve the right to call it a masterpiece.
