Anticipation was high, expectations were even higher, and Spider-Man: No Way Home delivered on an epic scale. Full of surprises and nostalgia that will please many fans, emotionally charged and excellent direction. Strong visuals, solid action sequences, and the pacing was perfect, a thrill ride, and one of the finest MCU films.

Joaquin Phoenix is one of the finest actors of our generation, he has an effective quality that is so watchable, and he gives such a natural and wonderful performance in this film. C’mon C’mon is a simple story and displays the importance of talking, relationship building and giving children a voice. A touching story that is well directed, has gorgeous black and white cinematography, and although the story is quite low key, it’s always beautifully engaging. A film that will probably go under the radar unfortunately, but it shouldn’t because it’s incredible.

Class of 1984 has shockingly effective storytelling, it's despicably good and loads better than I expected. Fear and rage are many emotions I felt whilst watching this film, with a mix of multiple genres, and memorable characters. A brutal ending that packs a punch.

    Key Largo

Heavily set in one location, with multiple character dynamics, Key Largo, is a solid noir, but really didn't do a lot for me. The narrative was a bit flat, and didn't feel very suspenseful, however, there are certainly strong performances. Perhaps I could try it again another time.

On a technical level, The Power of the Dog is outstanding, masterclass of acting from all involved, gorgeous cinematography and camerawork. A haunting score from Jonny Greenwood, and smart direction from Jane Campion. However, it's a shame the story doesn't quite follow suit. It's far from dull, and I liked it a lot, but I just wanted more from it.

I am baffled as to why an Oscar nomination has eluded Tom Hanks for his portrayal of Captain Phillips.

This does not sit well with me. Hanks was remarkable.
