Pride ★★★

Is there something formally interesting in here, in the intersection of the hyperreal narrativization of the nature documentary and the blatant artificiality of the terrible special effects? Does hearing lions make bad puns and talk about all kinds of things a wild animal would have no point of reference for, from hormones to vegetarianism, carnivalize the human tendency to anthropomorphize? (recall Wittgenstein! – "if a lion could speak, we could not understand him") When a very human understanding of gender, romance, and family is imposed on a species whose social reality we cannot claim to understand, is it saying something about them – or us, about how the rules we live our lives by are equally arbitrary and equally possess a historical, social origin?

idk man but the british lions were pretty funny. and the evil lions are called Harry and Dark. this rules. this is my joker
