As I Was Going To The Moon Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty
Straub on The Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach: “We also wanted to film a love story unlike any other: a woman talking about her husband whom she loved unto his death.”
And four decades later he made a film about a man talking about his wife whom he loved unto her death. A love letter and a ghost story. One of the most devastatingly beautiful movies ever made. RIP Danièle.
I'm not even sure what to say. The most exhilarating movie experience of the year. No, scratch that, decade. This film wasn't made by a board of executives. This isn't Star Wars on autopilot. This was made by a real artist. This is art. This is just as good as the original trilogy, IF NOT BETTER.
I need to sit on this for a while, I'm absolutely blown away. Thank you, Rian Johnson.
God speed, rebels.
