Quinn Bailey’s review published on Letterboxd:
The following is a reasonable and rational review of Cannibal Holocaust.
1) I understand that this is a landmark film in its genre, and that it paved the way for later films to defy censorship and challenge systems of power, and that a lot of you admire it for its social commentary and challenging storytelling.
2) With that said, NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE SO MUCH NOPE JESUS H. CHRIST ON A GODDAMN BICYCLE MAKE IT FUCKING STOP.
This has been my reasonable and rational review of Cannibal Holocaust. A real turtle died on screen, the soundtrack wouldn’t stop making “pew pew” laser noises at me, and at least three of the lead actors looked disturbingly like Dennis Hopper. I did not enjoy it particularly much.
