Horror. Film Noir. Sci-fi. Action movies. Old Hollywood Glamour.
I was curious what the hype was all about, I mean, what could be so mindblowing about a kid drumming and his abusive teacher? After watching the movie, I'm still wondering...
Sure, the acting and the performances are intense, cinematography is great, as is the music. It's a well-made movie containing a lot of talent.
But it left me cold. Not quite my tempo, I guess!
Incredibly stylish and beautiful portrait of a relationship with all its many layers, peeling off like a cocoon as the movie unfolds itself. Although it focusses on what is perceived as an 'unusual' relationship for most, this is more natural and sincere than any other 'romantic' film I have seen. It's as delicate as the wings of a butterfly, treating a subject that is often associated with the opposite of gentleness.
