This movie is relentless, cruel, awkward, scary, even funny at times, and just badass. So much style and beauty in a movie based around music. The editing in the overall movie is astounding, but the last music section alone is breathtaking. I want a bts reel of how they managed to cut all that stuff together. Maybe one of the few anime’s I’ll ever really love. Just childlike wonder and creativity. Amazing scenery, themes of loneliness, change, and identity. It’s also one of the first animated movies where I really noticed fantastic sound design. Also gorgeous music. Just really really impressive filmmaking.
