  • 1917

1917 earns the first and only perfect score of the 2019 awards year. It turns the war movie genre on its head and revolutionizes it. If I’m being completely honest, I didn’t really have a horse in the Best Picture race. However, I’m now completely convinced this is it for me. ‘1917’ is a visceral, cunning, and artistic film that makes something so gritty and dirty look absolutely beautiful. Little Women

Not too long ago we had the Biggest Disappointment of 2019, and now we have the Most Overrated of 2019. ‘Little Women’ can be summarized as plainly as that. The ending hits just as Lulu Wang (the director) intends it to, but…

    Star Wars: The Force Awakens

First off, What an absolute rollercoaster of a film! I laughed more than in any film of this kind before, I almost shed a tear, and I soared higher than the Millennium Falcon. Easily the opening sequence is at least second best of the year, only (maybe) behind that of Sam Mendes' "Spectre". J.J. Abrams has completely outdone himself in rejuvenating the "Star Wars" franchise AND MORE! The momentum from this film will surely carry to the next.

    Acting was…
