Gilly Del Toro makes a fatalistic, twisted carnival horror/neo-noir? Yeah sign me up. Geeks, grifters, patricide, femme fatales; Del Toro steps away from the supernatural and explores the monstrous side of humanity through a character study of the doomed protagonist. Paul McCartney coming up with a tune while waiting for John to arrive and it quickly forming into Get Back was the most exhilarating 15 minutes of film I've seen all year.

Memento calls attention to the duplicitous nature of memory. For instance, I forgot how great this movie is. Also I was really cool in 2000.
