    Léon: The Professional


    Watched the International Cut, and now perhaps wish I hadn't.

    This is close to being a really good film, and some of the action sequences are excellent. But... it's just creepy af, and deeply uncomfortable at parts in how it sexualises a clearly very young Natalie Portman and her character.

    It sounds like perhaps the American cut removed some of the more uncomfortable scenes and may well have been a much stronger film for it.

    I'm all about the suggestion this is spiritually Joel Schumacher's third Batman film. Seeing Nicolas Cage as Batman chasing some goons in a much darker, grittier setting really set this in a whole other light for me.

    Clearly this film was the inspiration for the direction Christopher Nolan would later take the franchise, and it's really just a shame he didn't bring Joaquin Phoenix back as underworld sex deviant Robin.

    This was good fun. Not sure why Daniel Craig decided to play the role as Kevin Spacey doing Frank Underwood doing a detective guy, that was a little off-putting at first, but hey it worked out for him. The guy can also really play the piano.
