Bacurau ★★★★½

collectivism idealized and literally pitted against colonialism in an exploitation film. braxploitation? it’s so good.

also the perfect anti-technocracy film in that it simply never gives an inch to modern technology. it refuses to acknowledge the instruments of that force. you don’t even know why anything happens in here, it doesn’t matter. (they’re no luddites themselves, they just make their own decisions about what they adopt. this is not unlike how the amish adopt tech from what i’ve heard)
