I've never read any of Bernard Cornwell's books but I can say the Sharpe film series is well worth watching.
In this episode Sharpe vows to restore the regiment's honour by capturing a French Imperial standard: the Eagle.
Sharpe has been promoted from a field commission to a lieutenant in order to lead the Chosen Men to find a missing man James Rothschild. One of Sharpe's men commits mutiny. Sharpe and the Chosen Men end up meeting Commandante Teresa Moreno and Major Blas Vivar. Sharpe's group escorts the two of them to Torrecastro so they can raise a very old flag in hopes the people will see it and rally against the French. Sharpe's gets the girl in the end.
These are some of the brattiest and most terrifying "creepy kids" ever on film. IDK who is worse: Malachi or Issac? Issac is the (evil) reverend that started it all but it is Malachi that has the strongest lust for blood - murder or umm sacrifices "to He Who Walks Behind The Rows"" and will even defy Issac to kill.
