raíssa gonçalves’s review published on Letterboxd:
I've recently rewatched this because of nostalgia and it holds up to scrutiny all these years later. I love this mess of a movie, the horror/adventure pirate-romance with a dash of comedy that irreversibly changed the cultural image of pirates and also everything I expect from movies. The iconic Hans Zimmer soundtrack is, just as I remembered, absolute fire; only bops, zero flops; the man really outdid himself.
The CGI holds up really well too, which pleasantly surprised me.
(Turns out that my confused baby-gay little crush on Elizabeth Swann is alive and well 17 years later, now a full blown bi obsession with her, and honestly? She deserves it. What an icon.)
