Rakestraw’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Safdies went ahead and inundated Heaven Knows What with an uncomfortable onslaught of realism, to the point that I think all those partaking of the heroin were actually consuming heroin, which in turn makes most of the proceedings unsettling, adding to the fact that HKW's realism renders a on-screen suicide attempt entirely too realistic and natural, thus making it all the more affecting.
Arielle Holmes is incredible, as is Caleb Landry Jones.
The closest film, so far, that I've seen that matches the aesthetic and grit of American Cinema in the 70s. Sean Price Williams is on fire...head-to-head with Bradford Young, for me.
